Laughton Barns wedding : Julia & Pete

You know the kind of weather that you dread waking up to on your wedding day? Horribly wet. Horrendously cold. Ridiculously windy… Well, that’s exactly the kind of weather Julia & Pete got for their big day (seriously- at some points, it was so windy that the guests could hardly stand up straight). Their sun-drenched engagement shoot only a few weeks earlier felt like a lifetime ago, as the cold, grey morning of their mid-July wedding dawned.

However, despite the oh-so evil weather (which came, to make matters even worse, in between two gorgeous mid-Summer heatwaves), Julia and Pete’s big day turned out to be truly one of the loveliest, funniest and happiest weddings that we’ve ever been lucky enough to photograph. From the beautiful flowers, many of which were grown and arranged by the bride’s mum, to the incredibly emotional ceremony, to the fantastic speeches, to the Best First Dance Ever (Fact), the whole day was suffused with so much love and joy.

Laughton Barns provided a fabulous (if rather windswept) backdrop; the staff were great and the food was delicious. Julia & Pete put a huge amount of thought and attention to detail into the styling and the atmosphere of their day. They also braved the rain and wind for their portrait shots, which have an especially cosy and romantic feel thanks to the fact they had to snuggle up together under shelter wherever possible. But best of all was the ridicuously huge amount of love and happiness that radiated from them both throughout every single moment of their very special day. Here are a few of our favourite images:

Love, Becky & Geoff x

  • Violet McKee - What a truly beautiful wedding! The bride looks so happy in every single photograph, and the groom looks so proud. As usual, you’ve really captured the emotions, and the story, of the day. I adore all of their flowers, too. Beautiful work.ReplyCancel

  • Tina - I absolutely love your portraits of the couple- your images are so romantic and full of feeling, and, most importantly, they look completely natural and unforced. The first dance looks amazing, too- such vibrant images which really capture the atmosphere and excitement. Awesome work, as ever.ReplyCancel

  • Belle Thomas - Wow! I have never seen a cold, rainy wedding look so utterly fabulous! All of the photos are so natural, warm and inviting. They’re also full of colour, and I know how difficult that is to do when there is no sunshine- it takes real skill. You’ve got such technical ability and, more importantly, such a great eye. I just love getting inspired by your beautiful blog!ReplyCancel

  • Libby Powell - Stunning photographs. You have told the story of the whole day in such a beautiful way, and I can’t believe you get such exquisite portraits even when the weather was awful. Loving your work, as always xReplyCancel
