Top Ten Best Wedding Venues: Sussex and Surrey

We’re lucky enough to photograph at least one wedding, every week, pretty much all year round. When people realise this, they always have the same two questions:

1. Don’t you ever get bored? (NEVER. Seriously. Every wedding, and every couple, is so different and so, so special and we feel utterly privileged to be a part of their day each and every time).

2. What are your favourite wedding venues? The fact that we’re asked this one so often has inspired us to take the plunge and… drumroll, please… come up with our Official Top Ten Local Wedding Venues. This list isn’t sponsored, or affiliated in any way with any of the venues; it’s just our genuine honest-to-goodness thoughts, based on A LOT of (rather lovely) experiences. Obviously, it’s completely subjective. And it’s not a definitive list either; we’re incredibly fortunate to have lots of truly beautiful wedding venues locally- in fact, as I’m writing this, I’m already realising that choosing 10 is going to be nigh on impossible. Maybe I’ll do 20 instead. Or 30. Let’s see how it goes…

Ok. Deep breath… In no particular order, our very favourite local-to-Horsham (because it’s where we’re based) wedding venues are:

The Dome in Worthing | Such a fabulous, laid back venue- right on the beach. It would be impossible to have a wedding that was anything other than fabulous at this place- it’s like an explosion of happiness and joy.

Buxted Park Hotel | This is a breathtaking wedding venue- it’s elegant and chic, with wonderful views and impeccable interiors; a truly stylish spot in which to say your vows, either indoors or outside in the s.p.e.c.t.a.c.u.l.a.r grounds. (You can see lots more of our Buxted Park weddings here)…

Bartholomew Barn | Nestled amongst miles of achingly beautiful countryside, with a lovely courtyard area in which your guests can chat and mingle to their hearts content … a great choice for a relaxed, romantic wedding.

South Lodge Hotel | This place is completely fabulous. The food is delicious, the surroundings are opulent, the grounds are fantastic and the views are truly beautiful. South Lodge weddings are inherently impressive, and when the weather’s good, you can choose to have your ceremony indoors, or out- both are equally stunning. (You can see lots more of our South Lodge weddings here)…

Nonsuch Mansion | This is a jaw-droppingly stylish place to say your vows. Everything about Nonsuch- from the friendly staff, to the magnificent building, to the completely awesome decor is simply perfect. I would like to live here.

The Goodwood Hotel | A super chic venue, set within the grounds of the Goodwood Estate. Elegant decor, great food, and a spa that your guest will love… we always really look forward to photographing weddings at this lovely hotel.

Pangdean Old Barn | Seriously fabulous food, a laid-back atmosphere and beautiful surroundings- the perfect place for a relaxed wedding celebration…

The Ravenswood | This fabulous manor house, with its beautiful gardens, four lakes and a pavilion create a jaw-droppingly lovely setting for saying your vows. The Ravenswood definitely makes it onto my “wedding venues that I would rather like to live in” list…

Dorset House | This little-known rural and romantic wedding venue in Bury, West Sussex, has 40 acres of beautiful grounds, an amphitheatre, and the most b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l views of the surrounding countryside. A truly magical place to tie the knot…

The Petersham | This Richmond hotel couples Victorian splendour with world class hospitality- and it overlooks a beautiful stretch of the Thames. Elegant rooms, award-winning dining and a truly magical atmosphere make this one of the most luxurious places in the UK to say your “I Do”s…

So. There you go- I managed to keep it down to 10! (I think I’ll have to do another list soon, though, as there are so many other wonderful venues worth a mention). Hopefully this will provide lots of inspiration for all you lovebirds wondering where to to tie the knot; I know how bewildering it can all feel in the early stages of planning your big day. Try not to worry- as long as you steer clear of bad food and bad carpets (there’s nothing more depressing than bad carpets), you’ll be fine. And when you find the place that’s right for you, I promise that you’ll know; you really will.

Happy wedding planning!

Love Becky xx
